Prosafe bags BP extension

Extension: Safe Caledonia

Safe Caledonia gains an extra seven months of work off UK

Norwegian flotel contractor Prosafe has secured a contract extension with BP for use of its Safe Caledonia accommodation unit in the UK sector of the North Sea.

The semi-submersible, which is currently deployed at the Andrew Area development project, will also be used to support operations at the Magnus platform under the seven-month extension to the end of March 2014.

However, Prosafe has accepted a slightly lower dayrate for the extended period compared with the original eight-month contract, giving a total value for the entire 15-month firm period of around $116 million.
