Swedish player Lundin Petroleum is now set to move full steam ahead on Edvard Grieg, its first operated standalone development off Norway, after the project was given the green light by the country’s parliament.

The project was one of two field development plans to be given the final go-ahead by the parliament, The Storting, with the Total-operated Martin Linge scheme also rubber-stamped.

The nod for Edvard Grieg, formerly named Luno, after it gained government approval earlier this year means construction of key facilities can move forward on the Nkr24.2 billion ($4.2 billion) development.

It is the first scheme to progress to the development stage in the oil-rich Utsira High area of the Norwegian North Sea, which also hosts the giant Johan Sverdrup field.
