Arnstad gets Norway transport ticket

In the driving seat: newly appointed Transport Minister Marit Arnstad

Norwegian politician Marit Arnstad has stepped down from the board of Statoil, just one week since being re-elected, after being given a seat in the country’s coalition government in a political comeback.

Arnstad has been brought onboard as Transport Minister to replace Magnhild Meltveit Kleppa in a ministerial reshuffle by her Centre Party, which is part of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg’s three-party coalition that also includes Labour and Socialist Left.

Statoil said that Arnstad, a former oil and energy minister in a previous administration, will now resign her positions as deputy chair and board member at the Norwegian state oil company, which is now looking for her replacement.
