Nexus goes deeper at Crux-2

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Nexus Energy said today that its offshore Crux-2 well in permit AC/P23 in Western Australia’s Browse basin has reached a depth of 3830 metres and is drilling ahead to the planned total depth of 3145 metres.

Crux-2 has yet to intersect the uppermost ‘A’ gas reservoir structure hit by the Crux-1 discovery well.

Drilling towards the planned depth is continuing in order to establish the presence of the lower ‘B’ reservoir sand.

Based on the outcome of further drilling and a full evaluation of well logs, Nexus said it is considering side-tracking the Crux-2 well to a location on the field where both the A and B reservoir sands are present.

Nexus has a 100% interest in the Crux-2 well.
