SembCorp lands $300m platform gig

By Upstream staff

Singapore’s SembCorp Marine has signed a $300 million contract with Carigali-PTTEP Operating Company for the construction of an offshore platform integrated deck.

The contract, secured by Sembcorp subsidiary SMOE, is for the provision of engineering, procurement, construction, load out, offshore hook up and commissioning services.

The platform will be located in Block B-17 of the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area in an average water depth of 61 metres.

Construction is expected to begin in May this year, with onshore completion scheduled for June 2009.

“We are pleased to be awarded this major contract, a testimony of the confidence of our clients in SMOE’s proven capabilities and expertise in offshore platform construction. This is the biggest single contract in terms of commercial value secured by SOME,” Ho Nee Sin, managing director of SMOE, said.
