Bow passes over Marracoonda prospect

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Bow Energy said today it had decided to plug and abandon the Marracoonda-2 well in the Cooper-Eromanga Basin, Queensland, and move the drilling rig to the nearby Gamma-1 well.

The company said that although minor oil saturations were indicated on the wireline logs at Marracoonda-2, potential accumulations were interpreted to be sub-commercial or residual oil.

Gamma-1 is expected to spud later this week or early next week and has the potential to contain 6.1 million barrels of recoverable oil, Bow added.

The partners in the Coper-Eromanga ATP 752P joint venture are operator Bow (25%), Victoria Petroleum (25%) and Avery Resources (50%).
