Nexus Energy has said the Crux-2 well in offshore permit AC/P23 in Western Australia's Browse Basin was drilling ahead at a depth of 3992 metres and is expected to reach total depth later today.
The Australian company will run a full suite of wireline logs over the next few days to determine the well’s potential but said it is encouraged by early results.
Nexus will also consider a decision to sidetrack the well to a location where it may be completed as a future injection well as part of the potential field development.
Nexus has a 100% interest in the Crux-2 well.
