Production at Thailand's onshore Phu Horm gas field has ramped up to 100 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The field started production on 30 November 2006 at a rate of 60 MMcfd. Yesterday the output rate has risen to 100 MMcfd, said field partner PTTEP at a field inauguration ceremony.
The gas is sold to PTT Public Company, which in turn sells it to Nam Phong Electricity Generating Plant under a 15-year agreement to produce electricity for the north-eastern part of Thailand.
PTTEP president Maroot Mrigadat said Phu Horm is an important energy source for the production of electricity in north-east Thailand.
He added that PTTEP plans to develop other exploration and production projects under concessions it received from the Department of Mineral Fuels so that the north-east will have supplementary long-term energy sources.
Hess owns a 35% operating interest in the field. Partners are Apico (35%), PTTEP (20%) and ExxonMobil (10%).
