Bow fires first shot at Gamma-1

By Upstream staff

Bow Energy has spudded the Gamma-1 exploration well, in Wompi Block ATO 752P in Australia’s Cooper-Eromanga basin, its joint venture partner said today.

According to Victoria Petroleum, the well will be drilled to a planned depth of 1504 metres.

Gamma-1 has the potential to contain up to 6.1 million barrels of oil within only one of the target zones, Victoria said.

Gamma-1 is the fifth well in Victoria’s planned 16-well 2007 Cooper Basin exploration drilling programme.

The joint venture partners in Block ATP 752P are operator Bow (25%), Avery Resources (50%) and Victoria (25%).
