Chogoku Power signs up for NWS gas

By Upstream staff

Australia's North West Shelf Venture (NWS) has signed a second extension contract with Japan's Chogoku Power Company covering the delivery of between 1.2 million and 1.4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas per year for the next 12 years.

Woodside Petroleum, the leader of the North West Shelf Venture, said the deal amounted to about 22 cargoes per year.

The agreement means all eight of the venture's original Japanese customers have now agreed to extend their supply contracts with the project, Woodside said.
