Australian oil and gas producer Santos has said it expects to resume production at its 55,000 barrels of oil per day Mutineer-Exeter field off the coast of Western Australia tomorrow after a shut down due to a cyclone.
Spokeswoman Kathryn Mitchell said a vessel had sailed back to the location and the mobile rigs would be reconnected late on Tuesday.
"We expect to resume production on Wednesday," Mitchell told Reuters.
Santos had shut in the oilfield last Tuesday due to Tropical Cyclone George, a category four cyclone that was packing winds of as much as 275 kilometres an hour.
Meanwhile, Woodside Petroleum has said production vessels were sailing back towards the mooring at its 100,000 bpd Cossack field but it was still too early to determine when production would resume.
"We're hoping to get it back up today but it depends on the wind and sea conditions," said Woodside spokesman Graeme Harman.
Woodside added that it expects to resume production tomorrow at its 7000 bpd Legendre field.
