Crux-2 back up for Nexus

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Nexus Energy has said it expects to resume drilling at the Crux-2 sidetrack well in Block AC/P23, inthe Browse basin, off Western Australia, today.

Drilling had been delayed due to the failure of a component in the drill string that could not be recovered from the bottom of the hole.

A cement plug was set and the well has now been successfully deviated.

The Crux-2 well had previously been drilled to a measured depth of 3354 metres.

Nexus, which has a 100% ownership of the well, expects to intersect the reservoir sands by the middle of next week, with logging and down hole sampling expected to be completed by early the following week.
