Lamprell rides high on services boom

By Upstream staff

United Arab Emirates-based engineering services player Lamprell saw its 2006 profits surge by 91% year-on.year, buoyed by the oil market boom.

Profit, both on a net and operating level, rose 91% to $56.9 million and $56.1 million, respectively, while turnover increased by 57% to $329.6 million.

Lamprell said it started 2007 with the highest level of confirmed orders and since then has won several "lucrative and high profile" contracts.

"We are well positioned to take advantage of very positive market dynamics that we envisage will enable us to continue delivering growth through 2007 and beyond," chief executive Peter Whitbread said.
