Seadrill goes shopping

Norway's Seadrill said today it has bought a 20.7% stake in Aker Drilling and 6.2% of Scorpion Offshore, adding it had also boosted it interest in Eastern Drilling.

"Seadrill purchased and entered into forward contracts for 672,400 shares in Aker Drilling. Following these transactions Seadrill controls ... 20.7% of the outstanding shares," Seadrill said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the company said it had struck a deal with Lime Rock Partners to buy its stake of around 4.1 million shares in Eastern Drilling at Nkr135 per share.

Following the deal, Seadrill Norge's stake in Eastern will stand at 45.48%. In total, the Seadrill Limited group of companies has a 63.96% stake in Eastern.
