Iran primed for Oman gas deal

Iran is expected to sign an deal to export 1 billion cubic feet of gas per day to Oman, according to reports.

Mahmoud Zirkachianzadeh, managing director of the National Iranian Offshore Oil Company, told he Iranian Oil Ministry's website Shana that Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh was likely to sign the deal on tonight during a visit to Oman.

"The agreement to export Iran's gas to Oman and the joint development of the Hengam field will be signed tonight," Shana quoted him as saying, referring to an offshore field shared by the two countries.

Zirkachianzadeh did not give details of how much the contract was worth or when it would take effect, a Reuters report said.
