Salamander spins into Phu Horm

By Upstream staff

UK independent Salamander Energy and its partners said today they had started drilling at the PH-10 well in the Phu Horm field, north-east Thailand.

The PH-10 well was spudded on 28 May with the objective of increasing the productive capacity of the field, Salamander said.

Analysis of the data from the PH-6 well, which during drilling flowed gas from 1843 metres to 2014 metres subsea, is still ongoing.

The partners said they will continue to discuss the forward programme for bringing this well to the point of commercial deliverability.

Meanwhile, Salamander said the Ensign-16 rig contracted to drill the Phu Horm South appraisal well in neighbouring Block L15/43, has now arrived in Thailand and preparations are continuing for an anticipated spud in July 2007.
