First gas flows at Santa Caterina

By Upstream staff

Mediterranean Oil & Gas said that first gas has flowed from the Santa Caterina gas field, in Italy, at an initial production rate of 25,000 cubic metres per day.

Mediterranean hass an interest in the field via its wholly owned Italian subsidiary Intergas Piu.

Santa Caterina's operator, Gas Plus Italiana, has said the production rate will progressively increase to a stabilised rate of about 30,000 cmd.

Mediterranean added that Gas Plus has also updated the remaining reserves estimate for Santa Caterina, with proven recoverable reserves now stands at 117 million cubic metres.

"The start up of the new incremental production from the Santa Caterina gas field adds to the company's gas production base as part of Intergas Piu's ongoing production and reserves enhancement programme from the company's Italian assets," chief executive Giovanni Catalano said.
