D-day nears for Dolphin export plant

By Upstream staff

Dolphin Energy could soon fire up facilities in Qatar that will process 2 billion cubic feet per day of gas for export to the United Arab Emirates, industry sources said today.

Sources told Reuters the facilities could get to work by the end of the month.

The start-up is three to four weeks late, as Dolphin had previously scheduled the full commercial launch of its project in the first week of June.

"The start is imminent," one industry source told the news agency. "It will be by the end of June."

First gas from the Dolphin Qatar processing facilities should reach the UAE in July if the plants start in June, industry sources said.

The pipeline for the exports to the UAE was completed last year, and Dolphin began using it in March to bring 400 million cubic feet per day of gas processed by state-owned Qatar Petroleum to the emirate of Dubai.
