3D ready for Bass seismic

By Upstream staff

Australia’s 3D Oil said it had signed a Heads of Agreement with a consortium of five other companies to undertake 2D seismic operations in the Bass Strait area.

The consortium is currently engaged in discussions with two vessel operators to carry out the work and expects a vessel to be secured in the third quarter of this year.

3D was recently granted a 12-month suspension by the Joint Authority in relation to its Year 2 work commitment in its Bass basin permit T41-P, after the company reported difficulty in locating a seismic vessel.

The programme consists of acquisition of 2200 kilometres of 2D seismic data.

3D has a 100% interest in the T41-P permit.
