Amadeus waltzes into Texas play

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Amadeus Energy said it had entered into a farm-in agreement which will see it take a 35.25% interest in the River Bend exploration project in Wharton County, Texas.

The objective of the farm-in is to drill an exploratory well during the third quarter of this year to test the Yegua oil play, which offsets a well drilled in 1957, Amadeus said.

If the first well is successful, a small 3D seismic survey will be carried out.

The project could eventually cover between three and five locations, with potential reserves of between 75,000 and 150,000 barrels of oil per well, Amadeus said.

The River Bend project is the fifth new exploration farm-in made by Amadeus this year.
