Growler starts to show its teeth

By Upstream staff

The partners at the Victoria Petroleum-operated Growler-2 appraisal well at PEL 104 in South Australia’s Cooper basin said today they had hit oil in the reservoir objective.

Joint venture partner Impress Energy said the well had intersected a 15 metre gross oil column between 1722 metres and 1737 metres.

Data suggests the reservoir quality is of similar to better quality than the equivalent section in the Growler-1 well, Impress said.

Combined data from the two wells indicates an oil column of at least 18 metres in the Growler oilfield, it added.

The partners will now analyse the data before determining a forward programme.

Victoria has a 40% interest in PEL 104, alongside Impresss (40%) and Roma Petroleum (20%).
