Anadarko takes a cut in earnings

By Upstream staff

US-based Anadarko Petroleum’s second-quarter profit fell to $652 million, compared with $814 million for the same period in 2006.

Anadarko said the decrease was due to the payment of higher taxes on asset sales

Total revenue in the quarter surged to $3.31 billion, up from $1.81 billion in the year-ago quarter, as gas sales nearly doubled.

Meanwhile, Anadarko chairman Jim Hackett raised the company's annual oil production guidance to a range between 189 million and 193 million barrels, up 3 million barrels from the previous estimate.
