ONGC and BP join forces

By Upstream staff

Indian state-run explorer Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and UK supermajor BP signed an initial agreement today which will see them bid jointly for energy assets abroad and in India, ONGC said.

The memorandum of understanding would also enable the possible participation of ONGC and BP in each other's overseas and local assets, including coalbed methane blocks in India, ONGC said in a statement.

The agreement is valid for 18 months from now, ONGC said, adding it could be extended further.
