SeaBird looks to feather nest

By Upstream staff

NORWAY’S SeaBird Exploration expects the 2008 seismic market to be stronger than this year in all business segments.

The company said it was not in a position to take full benefit of the market this year but is “well placed to take advantage of the continuing strong market in 2008”, with eight vessels in operation for the full year and Hugin Explorer starting operations next year.

SeaBird posted a thirdquarter net loss of $7.7 million, compared with a $2.5 million profit a year earlier, due to low vessel use and a loss on the sale of a vessel.

However, it said it expects “significant growth” in revenues and earnings in the last quarter of this year.
