QGC targets first LNG export for 2013

By Upstream staff

Australian coal seam gas producer Queensland Gas Company (QGC) said yesterday that it expects first exports of liquefied natural gas from a planned project in Queensland by 2013.

Global gas giant BG Group will hook-up with QGC in a deal that involves the planned development of an LNG project using coal seam gas as feedstock to produce three to four million tones per annum for export.

The agreement inked with Britain’s BG covers an estimated A$8 billion (US$7.23 billion) development programme, including a 380-kilometre pipeline to a port site and construction of a world scale LNG plant.
