Australian explorer Oilex said it was pressing ahead with preparations to carry out an open hole drill stem test of the Haima Sandstone at a depth of 1226 to 1641 metres in its Sarha-1 well on Oman’s Block 56.
The test is one of a series of tests aimed at determining whether moveable hydrocarbons are present in the Huqf carbonates, the Haima sandstone, the Al Khlata formation and the Lower Gharif sandstone.
Oilex operates Block 56 with a 25% working interest. Other participants are Videocon Industries (25%) Gas Authority of India Limited (Gail) (25%), Hindustan Petroleum (12.5%) and Bharat Petroleum (12.5%).
