IHC Merwede swallows EB

By Upstream staff

Netherlands-based equipment contractor IHC Merwede has acquired specialist design, engineering and construction company The Engineering Business (EB).

Financial details of the acquisition deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 1997, EB is currently comprised of 150 employees and has a current order book exceeding £60 million ($92 million) to be delivered to the offshore industry over the course of the next three years.

UK-based EB specialises in designing, building and supplying engineering solutions for the offshore oil and gas, submarine telecom, defence and offshore renewables industries.

According to IHC, the deal will allow it to provide fully integrated vessels from a single supplier - dramatically widening the market potential of the company.

As a result of the acquisition, EB will now trade as IHC The Engineering Business.
