Scan scores a double with new vessel

By Upstream staff

Norwegian seismic player Scan Geophysical has scored its first date with PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation and its first gig for the new M/V Scan Stigandi.

Scan said it has received confirmation and a letter of intent from the Vietnamese outfit for its new ice class, four-streamer, dual purpose vessel.

The vessel is scheduled to shoot about 4000 kilometres of 2D data for PetroVietnam in the Caribbean region, with mobilisation planned around the end of May and beginning of June.

The M/V Scan Stigandi was outfitted by Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax, Canada, and is equipped to handle four streamers for 3D application and long-offset, large source configurations for 2D surveys worldwide.

“This will be the first contract for the new M/V Scan Stigandi and it will be the first job for this client,” Scan’s vice president of sales, Kjell Karlsson, said in a statement today.
