Australia’s Anzon Petroleum announced that the third and final production test over zone two and seven produced outstanding results at the Basker-6 sidetrack in the Bass Strait off Victoria.
The Sydney-based outfit said testing has concluded over three zones at an aggregate oil rate of in excess of 13,000 barrels per day and average gas rates far more favourable than expected.
“The well’s production rates are far higher that the joint venture expected and have supported the existence of the significant south eastern extension to the Basker field with field-wide reservoir sands,” Anzon said in a statement today.
The lower gas-oil ratios will enable the total oil rate to be substantially higher from the gas-constrained floating production, storage and offloading vessel Crystal Ocean, once the well is hooked up in July, added the company.
The Ocean Patriot drilling rig is now carrying out well suspension activities.
Anzon remains the operator of the Baska Manta Gummy joint venture on 40%, with partner Beach Petroleum on 30%, CIECO Exploration & Production on 20% and Sojitz’s Australian offshoot on 10%.
