Mermaid set to sail: subsea services provider buys one more diving support vessel.
Mermaid buys one more DSV
Mermaid Offshore Services has purchased a newbuild DP2 diving support vessel (DSV) from Norway’s Aquanos Offshore.
The vessel to be named Mermaid Endurer, will be the third newbuild subsea vessel to be added to Mermaid’s fleet within the next six months. Mermaid Endurer is designed to operate under harsh environment and will be suited to carry out subsea operations in international waters.
The vessel is being constructed by Norway’s Bergen Group BMV. Delivery from the Norwegian yard is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2009.
Mermaid now owns seven subsea vessels including two DSVs. In addition to Mermaid Endurer, the subsea services provider expects to take delivery of two other newbuilds, the DP2 DSV Mermaid Asiana and the DP2 remotely operated vehicle support vessel, Mermaid Sapphire during the second half of 2009.
