AmecFW in Chile LNG contract win
UK services outfit nets deal for expansion phase at GNL Quintero facility
UK-listed services player Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded a contract to serve as owners’ engineer in the latest expansion phase at GNL Quintero’s liquefied natural gas import project in Chile.
Amec Foster Wheeler said it will assist GNL Quintero with the evaluation of engineering, procurement and construction bids and will provide other engineering services.
The expansion involves the construction of a third storage tank and additional equipment to increase regasification capacity, the contractor added..
It said that the new contract builds on a similar role it carried out in an earlier phase of expansion at the Chilean LNG project that saw its capacity boosted to 15 million cubic metres per day from 10 MMcmd in 2015.
The new expansion is planned to expand the facility’s regasification capacity to 20 MMcmd.
GNL Quintero is operated by a joint venture comprising Chilean state energy company Enap holding a 20% interest, with Spanish gas player Enagas holding a direct 40% interest and sharing another 40% stake with Oman Oil through their Terminal de Valparaiso joint venture.
