Drilling starts on exploration well in the Arabian Sea

British Virgin Islands-incorporated company Masirah Oil has spudded an exploration well on Block 50 in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Oman.

Drilling of the Karamah-1 exploration well started on Friday and it will be drilled a depth of roughly three kilometres, targeting multiple horizons in early Tertiary and late Cretaceous formations.

The well is being drilled using the jack-up Aban 7 in a water depth of 23 metres, roughly 13 kilometres from the GAS-1 discovery well.
