Beerenberg in Sverdrup win

Contractor gains hook-up job with Aker Solutions for platforms at under-development field off Norway

Beerenberg has secured hook-up work on platforms to be installed at Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup field off Norway under a sub-contract with Aker Solutions worth Nkr200 million ($23.3 million).

The Norwegian oilfield services contractor will provide services including scaffolding, rope access, surface treatment, passive fire protection and insulation for the riser platform at the North Sea field as part of the hook-up phase due to be carried out in 2018 and 2019.

The deal also carries options for similar work on the processing and living quarters facilities to be installed at the field in 2019.

It follows the recent award to Aker Solutions of a Nkr900 million ($108.3 million) deal for hook-up and commissioning of the riser platform, plus options for the other two facilities, with affiliate Kvaerner gaining half of the contract value under a sub-contract.

Local rival Aibel has been handed a similar Nkr400 million contract for the drilling platform.

The facilities will form the four-platform hub that is due to be brought online at the giant field in the fourth quarter of 2019.
