Rowan secures jack-up deals

Saudi Aramco and Lundin Petroleum among companies to pen deals with US rig owner

US rig owner Rowan has won a raft of jack-up contract extensions, with Saudi Aramco and Lundin Petroleum holding onto units.

Aramco has extended its contract with the Gilbert Rowe in Saudi Arabia until the end of June at $69,000 per day, the current day rate, Rowan said in its latest fleet status update.

Swedish independent Lundin has exercised a 90-day extension option over the Rowan Viking off Norway, with the deal now set to run until February. However, the rate has dropped from $275,000 to $180,000 per day.

Lundin also pencilled in another 90-day option at between $180,000 and $230,000 per day.

BP will now let go of the Joe Douglas off Trinidad at the end of September “due to efficient drilling performance,” with no dayrate disclosed.

Arena has secured a priced 90-day option over the Rowan EXL III in the US Gulf of Mexico.
