AkerBP starts drilling at Hyrokkin

Joint venture expects well off Norway to be completed early next month

AkerBP has spudded the 25/4–11 exploration well on the Hyrokkin prospect off western Norway, according to joint venture partner Fortis Petroleum.

Drilling began on 11 August 2017 using the jack-up rig Maersk Interceptor rig.

The Hyrokkin prospect in Block PL 677 is 20 kilometres north-east of the Alvheim field and 220 km north-west of Stavanger.

The primary objective of the well is to test the hydrocarbon potential and reservoir properties of the Tertiary Heimdal formation.

Drilling is expected to take 23 days, said Fortis.

Joint venture partners are AkerBP (60%), Fortis (30%) and MOL (10%).
