Standard Drilling picks up PSV pair

Oslo-listed vessel owner buys two Norwegian-built units from German owner for around $11 million each

Cyprus-based ship owner Standard Drilling has picked up a pair of platform supply vessels from a German player for more than $20 million in total.

Oslo-listed Standard is getting the ER Athina and ER Georgina from Hamburg-based ER Offshore for $22.2 million en bloc.

The sales are “subject to charters consent which cannot be unreasonably withheld,” Standard said in a statement on Thursday.

Both units are currently working in the UK sector of the North Sea, the Georgina on a term contract with Maersk Oil – which is being acquired by French supermajor Total in a deal worth more than $7 billion – and the Athina in the spot market.

Once the deals are done, Standard will control a fleet of 18 PSVs, comprised of five owned large units and 14 part-owned medium-sized units.

The two vessels were built at STX Brevik in Norway and have 1000 square metres of deck space.
