US offshore rig activity slows down

Number of units operating off US down slightly week-on-week, Baker Hughes report shows

The US offshore rig count sank by two units in the past week, with onshore drilling activity down even more sharply, according to the latest Baker Hughes report.

The number of units drilling off the US went from 22 to 20 in the week to Friday, with the total number of rigs in the US off week-on-week by eight at 928.

The offshore count is also down by three year-on-year, with the onshore and offshore total up 389 from a year earlier.

The Canada rig count was up three units from last week’s 209 to 212 on Friday and was up 47 on last year’s 165, the report showed.
