Worker death: Man reported killed after fall

A 34-year old man died on Thursday after falling about 60 feet from an oil derrick in central Texas, local reports said.

The worker was pronounced dead at a wellsite in Tom Green County on North Burma Road at about 2 pm, according to the San Angelo Standard Times.

The newspaper identified the deceased as Roy Michael Jaynes of Rising Star, Texas, an employee of Heartland Inc.

Authorities described the death as accidental, with harness problems cited as a possible cause.

The local sheriff's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

San Angelo is about 200 miles north-west of San Antonio.
