Adamant Ventures: Former CFO heads to venture capital firm

The former chief financial officer of Gulf Keystone Petroleum has joined Adamant Ventures, a London-based upstream venture capital fund focused on onshore opportunities.

Ewen Ainsworth, who left his prior post last month, becomes a partner responsible for investment structuring and commercialisation.

In addition, Meb Somani, who until recently was global head of oil and gas principal investment at Barclays Natural Resource Investments, joins the fund's investment committee as a director.

Adamant's chairman is Simon Walker, former chief executive of the British Venture Capital Association and also a previous special Advisor to the UK prime minister and Queen Elizabeth II.

Somani's fellow directors include John Manzoni (ex-Talisman and BP) and David Bamford (ex-BP) while the remaining partners include Christian Bukovics (ex-Shell) and Andy Sommerfield (ex-DRS Commodities).

Mark Carne (formerly with Shell and BG Group) is an advisor to Adamant.
