Suncor worker found dead

Fatal incident: Suncor Energy worker is found dead

Canada's Suncor Energy has reported its fourth fatality of 2014 after a body was discovered early on Thursday.

It is suspected the 43-year-old man may have suffered from a heart attack. He was found lying on the ground and was taken to hospital.

The man is the fourth Suncor employee to die at our near a company-operated site since the beginning of the year, and the fifth person overall.

In May, a female Suncor employee was attacked and killed by a black bear during her shift. Her death came a month after a male employee was injured on the job. A third male employee was found dead in a pool of sand and water in January.

In June, a contractor with North American Construction died when he hit his head while working on a dozer at Suncor's Steepbank Millenium Mine.

Alberta Occupational Health & Safety are investigating the most recent death.
