Aibel wins Alvheim FEED

Upgrade study: Alvheim FPSO

Aibel is set to carry out front-end engineering and design study work for the upgrade of the Alvheim floating production, storage and offloading vessel under a framework agreement awarded by the Norwegian field’s operator Marathon Oil.

The local contractor will study alternative upgrade solutions with a view to tying existing discoveries such as Boyla in the Alvheim area of the North Sea into the floater.

Work on Aibel’s first assignment under the pact is set to kick off later this month at its Stavanger headquarters  and be completed within three months.

The agreement, which is up for renewal on an annual basis, is the first contract that Aibel has secured with the US independent, which earlier this year struck a deal to sell off its Norwegian assets – including Alvheim – to Det Norske Oljeselskap.
