BP confirms Urano success
BP today confirmed its tenth discovery at Block 31 off Angola with the success of the Urano well.
Urano was drilled by the drillship Jack Ryan in a water depth of 1938 metres, about 345 kilometres north-west of Luanda. The well reached a total depth of 4578 metres below sea level.
The well tested at a flow rate of 1970 barrels per day of oil from a limited test interval, confirming the capability of the entire sand interval to flow at a much higher rate, the company said.
BP is the operator of Block 31 with a 26.67% stake. Its partners are Esso E& P (25%), Sonangol (20%), Statoil (13.33%), Marathon (10%) and Tepa (5%).
