PA gears up for Tunisia drill

Sweden’s PA Resources said today it had entered into two contracts that will help it carry out a new drilling programme off Tunisia, due to start in January 2008.

The first contract was signed with a subsidiary of US-based Ensco for the charter of the drilling rig Ensco 85 for a minimum period of 270 days with an option for a further 225 days.

The contract value, including mobilization for the firm contracted period, is $64 million.

PA said it had also signed a second contract Norway’s AGR Group for the hire of a well management team that will plan and execute the drilling operations.

The planning phase started on1 June this year and the execution phase is expected to start early January 2008.

The contract is valid until the completion of the drilling campaign and is valued at $12.6 million for 270 days.

PA Resources' 2008 drilling programme off Tunisia includes the planning and execution of five firm wells.

The chartered rig will drill up to two new oil production wells at the Didon production platform and additional exploration wells within the Zarat exploration permit.
