Plan: the Line 4 extension project, which will eliminate any bottleneck on the mainline system between Edmonton, Alberta and Hardisty, Alberta
Enbridge wins pipe links approval
Canada's Enbridge said today it has received industry support to proceed with a pair of projects, including its $2 billion Alberta Clipper pipeline.
The company said in-service timing for the Alberta Clipper project, which it introduced last February, is expected to be late 2009 to mid-2010, while its C$300 million (US$254 million) Line 4 extension project is expected by late 2008.
Enbridge said the Canadian portion of its 450,000 barrel per day Alberta Clipper oil pipeline to the US will cost about C$1.5 billion, while the US portion is expected to cost about $800 million.
The Alberta Clipper could eventually handle capacity of up to 800,000 barrels per day, Enbridge said.
The Line 4 extension project, which will eliminate any bottleneck on the mainline system between Edmonton, Alberta and Hardisty, Alberta, will have capacity of 880,000 bpd, matching capacity at Line 4, Reuters reported.
