Tengiz output boost on cards

By Upstream staff

The TengizChevroil joint venture is aiming to almost double output at the Tengiz oilfield in western Kazakhstan from 2007, partner Chevron has said.

Chevron chief David O'Reilly told Russian news agency Interfax that the company was increasing its investment and working on a major project to enlarge capacity.

TengizChevroil pumps a quarter of Kazakhstan's oil. It produced about 99 million barrels of oil and 4.7 billion cubic meters of gas last year.

The ventures partners are Chevron (50%), ExxonMobil (25%), KazMunaiGaz (20%) and Lukarco (5%).
