Cooper Energy has decided to case and suspend its onshore Fairbridge-1 well in South Australia’s Cooper basin before spudding the Strickland Bay-1 probe.
The company said the data, including wireline logs and sidewall cores, indicated that the Birkhead formation target had enough potential to warrant testing.
However, the well will not be tested at present as Cooper does not have the personnel available and lacks cased hole production testing tools.
Cooper is paying Enterprise Energy’s share of costs for drilling the well in return for an extra 10% stake in the prospect. The company already has a 28.33% operating interest in the block.
The company also has the option to increase its stake in the Strickland Bay-1 by 10% prior to spudding the well.
