Canada’s Candax Energy has signed a drilling contract for the El Bibane re-development programme off Tunisia.
The programme is designed to bring on two horizontal production wells with the drilling of a new development well, the re-completion of the existing well and the installation of gas lift and reserves optimisation investments.
The contract specifies a 23 January mobilisation date, with the first well expected to spud by mid-February.
Candax expects that El Bibane will be back on production by April 2006.
The onset of production from the field was delayed last year after an unsuccessful workover operation to restart oil output.
Candax is also mobilising a rig to spud the Chaal-1 well in Tunisia. The well is expected to spud by the first week in February.
