No Mirage for Victoria

By Upstream staff

Australia’s Victoria Petroleum is casing its Mirage-2 well in the Cooper basin, South Australia, as a potential oil producer.

Preliminary interpretation of oil shows in two cores cut through the Murta formation indicated that the well had found similar oil saturations to those seen in the producing Mirage-1 well.

The well is the first of three that Victoria is drilling in the Mirage oilfield. The company has said previously that should the programme be successful, it expects production at the field to increase to about 1000 bpd.

Participants in PEL 115 are operator Victoria (40%), Impress Ventures (40%) and Roma Petroleum (20%).
