Woodside shuts in Cossack fields

By Upstream staff

Woodside Petroleum has shut in the Wanaea-Cossack Lambert-Hermes oilfields complex off Western Australia as Cyclone Glenda nears the area.

Glenda's approach also forced Woodside to move the Cossack Pioneer floating production, storage and offloading vessel out of her path.

The cyclone, which has been upgraded to a category five storm, is expected to cross the Pilbara coast later today or tomorrow morning, with wind speeds expected to reach up to 200 kilometres per hour, a Reuters report said.

Santos had also shut in its Mutineer-Exeter oilfield ahead of Glenda.
