Boots & Coots cools first-quarter profits

Well control group Boots & Coots reported lower first quarter reneue and profits as demand for its services in Iraq tailed off.

The Houston-based company, known for its interventions at well fires and blowouts, generated $11.5 million in revenues and $2.5 million in gross earnings in the first three months of 2006, compared with $14.3 million and $3.1 million, respectively, in the same period last year.

The year-over-year decreases were partially offset by the purchase of Hydraulic Well Control the company said.
